EUDR System Integration: Simplifying Compliance with Celonis and SAP
With the EUDR deadline drawing closer, companies are under pressure to ensure full readiness to prevent costly shipment delays and safeguard market access. Integrations with common enterprise IT systems can streamline the EUDR compliance process.
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is complex and far-reaching. It affects purchase orders, inbound processes, outbound shipments, and involves various operational business functions. Compliance demands a high degree of data accuracy, timeliness, and auditability that isolated spreadsheets and ad hoc processes cannot provide. In addition, it must occur alongside procurement, production, and sales activities. IT integrations can make the difference between manual overhead and scalable, audit‑ready compliance.
The goal is clear: no more compliance silos, just seamless, automated data flows that simplify the compliance process for all relevant teams and departments.
Why is System Integration Essential for EUDR Compliance?
The EUDR poses significant operational challenges, particularly due to the volume and complexity of data involved.
It requires:
1. Data consolidation across different processes and systems.
2. Fast, validated risk analysis across high‑volume transactions.
3. Supplier engagement and capacity building to fill data gaps.
4. Continuous, automated compliance embedded in day‑to‑day operations.
Sustainability data cannot remain siloed. For compliance to be scalable and efficient, it must be integrated directly into companies’ ERP and procurement systems.
The IntegrityNext Approach: From Standalone to Embedded Solution
IntegrityNext provides integration at two levels – ensuring continuous data flows between companies’ IT systems, our platform, and the EU TRACES portal:
1. RESTful API
- Works for any API-enabled system, ensuring bi directional data exchange.
- Via POST endpoints purchase order (PO) and product data can be pushed from ERP, SRM, and procurement systems to the IntegrityNext platform.
- IntegrityNext runs the required risk assessments, triggers supplier questionnaires, and manages interactions with TRACES.
- Via GET endpoints enterprise IT systems receive Due Diligence Statements (DDS), including status, reference and verification IDs.
2. TRACES connector
- Prebuilt by IntegrityNext to auto create and submit DDS to the EU TRACES portal. No setup effort is required.
Typical data flow:
- Purchase and product data flow into IntegrityNext
- Suppliers complete missing information via questionnaires
- IntegrityNext performs risk analysis and creates due diligence statements (DDS)
- Results are automatically pushed back into ERP systems
Internal teams such as buyers never have to leave their systems, while IntegrityNext handles all relevant compliance processes in the background.
We have created two standard connectors with pre-configured interfaces that require little to no implementation effort – saving critical resources and speeding up the integration process:
- Celonis: The EUDR Manager App, available on the Celonis Marketplace, integrates the IntegrityNext EUDR Module into the Celonis landscape.
- SAP: The EUDR Connector for SAP S4/HANA, available on the SAP Marketplace, integrates the IntegrityNext EUDR Module into the SAP landscape.
Celonis EUDR Manager
Process mining and execution management tools play a critical role in turning data into action. To that end, IntegrityNext has partnered with Celonis and Ventum Consulting to develop the Celonis EUDR Manager, a joint application that embeds due diligence directly into process workflows.
Celonis and IntegrityNext provide complementary services that significantly simplify the EUDR compliance journey. Key features include:
- Integrated risk analysis
- Automated generation and submission of DDS
- Data harmonization and EUDR progress monitoring
- Workflow integration, process orchestration, and bottleneck analysis
- Process insights aligned with common EUDR challenges
- Customizable dashboards for procurement and sustainability teams

The integration ensures that compliance, risk insights, and process data all live in one place, without the need to switch systems. This improves efficiency and ultimately helps reduce the risk of supply chain disruptions.
SAP S4/HANA Connector
IntegrityNext also offers a pre-built connector for SAP S4/HANA, developed by Parasus, which addresses both inbound and outbound processes:
Inbound Process: No Product Without a Due Diligence Statement
When a purchase order (PO) is created in an ERP system, such as SAP S/4HANA, the IntegrityNext API is automatically triggered. Here’s what happens step by step:
- Order data – including material numbers, product IDs, HS codes – is sent to IntegrityNext.
- IntegrityNext performs a risk analysis and sends a self-assessment request to the supplier.
- Missing product information is filled in, and a DDS is created via the EU Traces portal.
- Two critical IDs are generated: reference number, verification number
- These IDs are sent back to the company’s ERP system.
Only when these IDs are available, goods can officially enter the warehouse.
Outbound Process: Compliance Before Shipping
The outbound process mirrors the inbound one, with compliance checks happening before goods leave the warehouse:
- A customer order is placed.
- The API is triggered again, running the same risk checks and DDS creation process.
- The resulting reference and verification IDs are pushed back into the ERP system.
- These IDs are not only required to release the goods but can also be printed directly on shipping documents and invoices.
If the IDs are missing or the risk analysis flags an issue, the system can automatically reject the order until compliance is confirmed.
Why This Matters
This inbound–outbound setup guarantees end-to-end EUDR compliance at the transactional level. In practice, this means:
- Inbound control: Every product entering the business has been checked for deforestation risks.
- Outbound control: Every product leaving the business carries evidence of completed due diligence.
This ensures that companies build compliance directly into critical supply chain flows – rather than treating it as a separate process.
The connector automatically:
- Pulls order data from SAP
- Runs risk analyses and supplier checks
- Generates DDS with reference and verification IDs
- Syncs IDs back into SAP before inventory booking or shipping
The SAP connector ensures a fully automated workflow. Every purchase order is automatically checked, accepted or rejected based on its compliance status.
Benefits of Automated EUDR Integration
An automated, end-to-end setup delivers clear advantages:
- Scalability – Handles large volumes of supplier and product data.
- Error reduction – Removes manual data entry risks.
- Efficiency – Keeps users working in their familiar system environments.
- Transparency – Provides real-time compliance and risk alerts.
How to Get Started: A Practical Guide
Companies considering EUDR integration can follow a four-step approach:
- Define your role under the EUDR: operator, trader, or both.
- Map your IT landscape: Which systems need to be included in data management and flows?
- Analyze your data: Ensure material numbers, product IDs, and HS codes are maintained in your ERP system.
- Choose an integration path: In-house development via API or pre-built connectors like SAP and Celonis.
IntegrityNext supports integration with extensive documentation, expert consultations, and trusted partners.
Bottom Line
The EUDR compliance deadline is approaching quickly, and manual processes are no longer enough. IntegrityNext’s integrations with Celonis and SAP S4/HANA demonstrate how companies can:
- Automate compliance workflows
- Reduce operational risks
- Scale supplier engagement
- Keep compliance data embedded in everyday processes
- Involve all relevant teams with minimal effort
With ready-made connectors, expert support, and robust APIs, IntegrityNext helps organizations achieve efficient, scalable, and transparent EUDR compliance.
FAQs
When should we start with the standalone EUDR module vs. an integration?
If you’re handling a small number of transactions, the standalone IntegrityNext module works fine, simply upload an Excel file and move ahead. Once volumes grow – involving more suppliers, more transactions, recurring uploads – we recommend switching to an integration so that due diligence checks and data flows occur automatically.
What exactly does Ventum do in the Celonis setup?
Ventum is the Celonis integration partner. IntegrityNext operationalizes EUDR obligations such as risk assessments and due diligence rules, while Ventum ensures smooth processes in the Celonis environment, supports delivery, and provides process and tech consulting.
Can we review data before a due diligence statement is created?
Yes. Even with full integration, you can log into the IntegrityNext dashboard to review supplier answers, risk scores, and product data before a DDS is generated. Manual approval is optional – keep it on if you want control, turn it off if you want full automation.
We use both SAP S4/HANA and Celonis. Which integration should we prefer?
If SAP already feeds data into Celonis, the Celonis EUDR Manager is usually the most seamless choice, ensuring process insights, ERP data, and implementation of the EUDR logic in one place. If your teams primarily work in SAP, the SAP S4/HANA connector is the obvious choice. Many companies also use both: SAP for transactional enforcement, Celonis for process mining and orchestration.
How are inbound and outbound flows handled for the EUDR?
Inbound: No product enters the warehouse unless a due diligence statement exists, requiring reference and verification IDs. Outbound: No product is shipped without those IDs present in your ERP system. Integration makes sure that the API is triggered when orders are created, running risk analyses, gathering missing data from suppliers, generating DDS, and sending IDs back to your ERP system before booking or shipping.
What data do we need in our ERP system to make this work?
Keep HS codes, material numbers, product IDs, and order IDs properly maintained. The IntegrityNext RESTful API pulls these automatically and then returns the due diligence IDs to your system.
Do we get risk alerts?
Yes. The IntegrityNext dashboard flags risks (e.g., country risk, local legislation). You can also display alerts in SAP/Celonis depending on your setup – buyers see basic information they need to proceed with a transaction, while sustainability teams get deeper risk insights.
