Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are widely used in industrial and consumer products due to their resistance to heat, water, and chemicals. However, concerns about their environmental and health impacts have led to increasing regulation worldwide. The proposed EU-wide PFAS restriction under REACH could become one of the broadest chemical bans in Europe, covering around 10'000 substances and affecting many industries. In 2026, supply chains will be defined by geopolitical instability, tightening regulations, and supplier unpredictability. Traditional risk management is no longer enough.
In this session, we introduce the fundamentals: what PFAS are, where they are already regulated, and what the EU proposal aims to address. We will also explain the purpose of the upcoming consultation phase and why it represents a key opportunity for companies to provide input and better understand how the proposed restriction may impact their business.
What you’ll learn:
- Clear understanding of PFAS and why they are under scrutiny
- Overview of existing and upcoming global restrictions
- Introduction to the proposed EU PFAS restriction under REACH
- Why the consultation phase matters and why companies should participate
